Rugby World Cup Predictions Quarter Finals (09/10 - 15/10)

Predictions for this week

Ok wow, here we go - it’s getting serious now.

R.O.G reckons it is going to be a Northern Hemisphere clean sweep in the Quarters - which would be a historic reversal in fortunes.

R.O.G may also need to be evicted from his Irish server as his Irish bias may be getting out of control - a 95% win chances vs New Zealand feels a bit excessive. That being said the much ridiculed 24 point win margin vs Scotland turned out to be insightful….

With the return of Darth Dupont the France vs South Africa game is balanced on a knife edge but the delicate advantage goes to the home team.

Wales are the favourites to beat Argentina, but it’s not a sure thing. I personally feel that Argentina have a big game in them

England Fiji is the black sheep. R.O.G correctly the Fiji upset in the warm-ups but this is different. Prior to Portugal upsetting Fiji, England had a 63% of winning, that has now shot-up to 82%. Honestly it depends on if there is a big Fiji backlash coming or not

One thing is for certain, there is a great weekend of rugby ahead

Appraisal of Last Week

I though I was on for the clean sweep but then Portugal happened.

In general I was very happy with last weeks predictions. The Ireland winning margin was seen as too bullish but the men in green proved it to be sensible. Similarly the bookies really undercalled the France margin vs Italy

I should just give up on trying to predict Fiji games - they exist outside the world of statistics. Of all the games R.O.G predicted the wrong this World Cup 50% were games involving Fiji
